Fibroepithelial polyp on the lower lip of 58 year old female patient. This is a benign (non-cancerous) growth that usually develops in sites of trauma, most commonly on the cheek, side of the tongue or lip. The polyp, also called an acrochordon or skin tag, consists of fibrous tissue surrounded by a layer of epithelial cells. The polyp can be surgically removed if it causes discomfort.
