Coloured 3D computed tomography (CT) scan of the heart of a 58 year old patient who has been treated for a stenosis (narrowing) of the left anterior descending artery by the placing of a stent (white coil). This procedure is known as coronary angioplasty. Stents are wire mesh tubes that provide support to passageways within the body. Here, it is being used to widen the section of artery that has become narrowed.
