Endoscopic view of a polyp (small growth) being removed from the rectum of a patient by transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS). Polyps are removed as they can become cancerous. TAMIS is a procedure where an endoscopic surgery port is placed into the anal canal. Instruments are passed through the into the rectum or colon where they are used to remove the polyp. The wound in the rectum or colon is then sutured closed. This polyp was found to be a precancerous tubulovillous adenoma.
