PAIR OF LARGE GEORGE III SILVER GIRANDOLES WITH COLUMN SHAFTS.

Silver. Feet loaded. On a square; multi-stepped base with godron decor; each with a high shaft in the shape of Corinthian columns. Thereon wide-ranging; four-flamed girandole attachments with square eaves bowls and corresponding spout inserts. Heraldic engravings on the foot; parts of the inserts and eaves bowls. Ca. 3310 (Girandole covers only)g. Height 45.5cm; width 38.5cm.
a) Inspection mark London 1765-66; maker's mark William Cripps (from 1743; Grimwade no.3056). Top of girandole edge engraved. b) Inspection mark London 1766-67; maker's mark William Cafe (from 1757; ib. no.3077). Top of girandole no. 4 engraved. Condition A.
