Model of a 74-Gun Ship of the Line; Construction model; vertically cut lengthwise; the halves leaning on braces on a floorboard. Truss model without skin or bombardment; intended to show the differences in the construction of the cross bracing according to Sir Robert Seppings (port half) and Cornelis Soetermeer (starboard half). With Soetermeer's system; the pulling parts of Sepping's cross-dressing have been omitted from the hold and replaced with metal strips on the outside under the skin. On the port side the foreship only has vertical shims; on the starboard side horizontal bands are fitted. Round stern with wulf and fence of two floors; without details or side galleries. Ninety-six gun ports spread over three decks. Five decks: cow bridge deck; lower; intermediate and upper decks and upper champion: lower and intermediate decks have a diagonal warp in the web; the deck beams of all decks except the cow bridge are supported by brass knees. The sheer runs slightly on both ends; no barwood or deer. Peaked trusses; sharply cut away at the back.
