Japan. Meiji period (1868-1912).
Wood with gold lacquer and rich Shibayama inlays. With six folding doors; two sliding doors; two drawers; a bow bridge and seven open storage areas. All vertical surfaces with numerous inlays with two ladies doing Ikebana; additionally flowers and birds. The top plate with high-swung sides decorated with two h趑 birds in takamaki e in gold. The outsides and the back with flowers and birds in hiramaki e with red and mother-of-pearl. Height 63cm; width 46cm; depth 17cm.
