Morth American's 45, 000th: This latest production model of the F-86E Sabre jet today became the 45,000th military plane to be produced by North American Aviation, Inc. Showing that there "are more to come," J.H. "Dutch" Kindelberger (second from right), company board chairman, turned the speedy fighter over to Brig. Gen. D.F. Stace, Chief, Los Angeles Procurement office. Lt. Col. R.M. Creech, left, USAF resident representative at North American, and J.S. Smithson, factory manager, witnessed the delivery of No. 45,000. An earlier model of the Sabre, the F-86A, holds the official world's speed record of 670.98 miles per hour, and is the only U.S. plane to consistently out-perform the Red Mig-15 over Korea.
