Britain's First Flying Wing -- A view of the jets of the new A.W.52 on Bitteswell Airfield yesterday. Britain's first Flying Wing, a 90 ft span machine, tailless, which has taken two years to build at a cost of ?200,000, was demonstrated in public for the first time yesterday at Bitteswell Airfield, near Rugby. When perfected, it will fly at 500 mph on two Rolls Royce jets. Experts say she is the fore runner of big air liners whose passengers and crew will be housed in the wings. December 17, 1947.
