Early photograph of the Moon. This photograph was taken on 27th february 1871, by the US astronomer Lewis Morris Rutherfurd (1816-1892). Rutherfurd was renowned for his early photographs of the Sun, Moon, planets and stars. This photograph was taken with the Moon in its first quarter.
