Frontal view of a common darter dragonfly (Sympetrum striolatum) sunning itself on the rim of a large flower pot in a garden habitat. The flight period is from May to as late as November. This species habitats are mainly ponds and still waters, though it is often found away from water. This dragonfly is found throughout the UK. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in August.
