Celebrated Crimes is an eight-volume collection of essays on famous criminals and crimes from European history. Army captain Godin de Sainte-Croix was accused in 1675, along with his lover Madame de Brinvilliers, of having conspired to poison de Brinvilliers' father and two of her brothers, in order to inherit their estates.
