Astor Hotel opened in 1863; one of the oldest hotels in China. The hotel has witnessed the development of Tianjin and its hisory; particularly durin the Concession period - it is located within the former British Concession. Many rooms within the older building have plaques naming their former international and Chinese distinguished guests and celebrities. Included US President Hoover. Hotel has a museum documenting guests and its history.The older building is a British classical structure that has also blended characteristics of European countryside villas.
