Apothecaries, pharmacists, and doctors would make their own cork stoppers to fit into the bottles in which their medicines were supplied. This 12-piece set of cutters was for boring holes into cork or rubber stoppers and bungs to allow the insertion of glass or plastic tubes, etc. A single cutter of the desired diameter is simply twisted round using the handles while applying pressure on to the stopper. A push rod is also included for removing the waste material from within the cutter.
