'Five Birds in a Tree' ?Depicts five decorative birds in a tree. A hand coloured Berlin Woolwork pattern by L. W. Wittieh (No. 382) circa 1840. This particular pattern was sold by Wilks, 186 Regent Street, London. Only the finest patterns were hand coloured. The first Berlin Woolwork patterns were printed in Berlin in 1804 and were introduced into England shortly afterwards, reaching their peak of popularity in about the 1830s.
