Lituus - The original version of the antique straight instrument pictured, found at Cervetri in the tomb of a warrior, is preserved in a museum in the Vatican, Rome, Italy. The Lituus was a trumpet used by Roman cavalry, taking its name from an Augurs's staff which it somewhat resembled in shape. Buccina - this instrument was found during excavations at Pompeii now preserved at the Museum of Naples - an instrument of the Roman infantry.
