View of the Senate Building in Senatskaya (formerly Dekabristov or Decembrists) Square, St Petersburg, Russia. The Ruling Senate was founded by Peter the Great in 1711, and abolished after the 1917 Revolution. The Senate and Synod Building is now headquarters of the Constitutional Court of Russia.
