Flowers of the jungle mango, Grias neuberthii. This plant is also known as the sacha mango. The flowers which emerge directly from the trunk develop into a mango-size fruit that is widely consumed. It is a member of the Brazil nut family, Lecithidaceae. The sacha mango is native to the northwestern Amazon Basin where it is widely cultivated for its fruit. Photo Loreto, Peru.
