Immaginetta Santa Maria delle Frate; icon of the Virgin and Child in 1137 found posted on an oak tree; which was probably carried by a monaco who loved to retire in meditation and prayer in this place; the discovery is said to be due to a cattleman who; having lost a bull; found him gentle and kneeling under the Image. The same was delivered by the Bishop of Trevico in place considered most appropriate; but the next morning he was again miraculously the place of discovery. Hence the decision to build him around a shrine dedicated to the worship of the Madonna delle Frate; Barony Castle (Avellino); chromolithograph circa 1900
