The scene of tragedy Clearance work is still going on today at the scene of the disastrous train crash at St John's ( South east London ) , in which 92 people lost thier lives and over 100 were seriously injured . A crash occured in thick fog , when the steam express train from Cannon Street to the Kent coast hit an electric train from Charing Cross to Hayes , Kent and which had been halved just past the station .
