Lord Simon and Lord Derby at the Pilgrims ' reception at the Savoy Hotel on 6th May , held by the Pilgrims of Great Britain and America to celebrate their work of furthering Anglo - American friendships over the past 40 years and also to celebrate the publication of Sir Harry Brittain ' s history of the Pilgrims . It is the tradition that every incoming British or American Ambassador is welcomed by the Pilgrims , and makes his first speech to them .
