Among the arrivals on the liner Queen Elizabeth, which docked at Southampton this morning, from New York, was 23-year-old Mimi Benzell, coloratura soprano of the New York Metropolitan Opera company. She has been engaged to play the lead in a new musical show, "the Nightingale", which is being presented in the West End shortly. She also plans to sing with Sir Thomas Beauchamp with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, during the first week of the London music festival at Harringay. 29 May 1947
