All is quiet now at Winkleigh Aerodrome, Devon. The heavy bombers, their crews and ground staff have gone, the once busy runways deserted. The control tower, nerve-centre of the airf ield a few months ago, has now a different use. It has become the home of Mr and Mrs Turner, who are here seen on the veranda of their unusual residence, admiring the extensive view which it commands. 28 October 1946
