Beverly Minister. Surrounded by centuries-old yews, the ageing stone pile of Beverley Minister points its graceful Twin Towers to the sky. Built on the site of a Saxon church founded by John of Beverley (640-721AD), the Minister, which is dedicated to St John the Evangelist, contains some of the finest examples of early English architecture in the country. The exterior of the Minister is in Decorated style. This magnificent example of English ecclesiastic architecture dominates the ancient borough of Beverley, in the east riding of Yorkshire. 9 July 1946
