Mes Elenor Tennant. Mrs Elenor Tennant, chairman of the Face the Facts Association, appeared before the Committee of Privileges at the House of Commons today, Thursday. The Committee have remarkable powers and can commit persons guilty of a breach of privilege to the custody of the Sergeant at Arms, or even prison 'During the Pleasure of the House' until they present petition is praying for their release and expressing contrition. Or the Commons can by special motion discharge offenders from custody to appear at the Bar of the House to be reprimanded by the Speaker. Or the offender may merely be admonished in his absence. The last time a fine was imposed by the Commons was in 1666, the fine was ?000.
