East Germany's Armed Youth. These pictures of German youth - armed, and on the march once again - have arrived in London concurrently with reports of plans to raise an East German army. The pictures were made at a rally in Leipzig of the State - sponsored Free German Youth movement, successor to the Hitler Youth organisation. This movement, with an estimated membership of four million, would be capable of providing a vast reserve for any national army project. Training is reported to include rifle shooting, gliding and parachute jumping. Photo shows: An armed girl, rifle slung over her shoulder, marches in the parade at Leipzig. Saxony, Germany. 23 June 1952.
