Dr John Anthony Pople, another of Britain's top scientists who is off to America in the so-called "brain drain", pictured at his home at Walton-On-Thames, Surrey to-day (Tuesday). The 38-year-old scientist, an authority on molecular physics, is head of the Basic Physics Division at the National Physical Laboratory at Teddington, Middx. He said to-day that he is going to the Carnagie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, possibly in about a month's time. He was Ford Visiting Professor at the Institute from 1961-2. Dr Pople was educated at Bristol Grammer School and Cambridge. In 1961 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society for distinguished work on molecular physics. Three other top British scientists have announced they are soon leaving their posts in Britain for America. 11 February 1964
