Parachute jumping - the new sport of Russian youth is claimed to give its adherents a calmness and presence of mind which will be invaluable to them in working for the Soviet cause - in nearly every town there is a tower of special design which is set up for the purpose of training pupils in this sport which is fast becoming an established favourite with the young men and women of Soviet Russia - but parachute jumping is only a cog in the wheel for it is designed to make the pupils air-minded - from parachutes pupils are passed on to aeroplanes and are taught everything about aviation - photo shows a pupil making a parachute jump from the special tower near Moscow February 7th 1935
