Le Monde French newspaper - Un vol techniquement parfait - Les trois astronautes d'Apollo-8 parviendront mardi matin aupres de la Lune - La premiere retransmission television en direct a ete une reussite. - Apollo 8 was the second manned test, the first to reach the Moon. The test took place in December 1968. This was (and still is) the furthest humans have been from Earth, and they travelled faster than any people ever before them. The mission was extremely sucessful, almost perfect. Lunar orbit insertion took place while the craft was behind the Moon, in a period (40 minutes) of non-contact with the Earth. Crew Mission Commander Frank Borman - Command Module Pilot Jim Lovell - Lunar Module Pilot William Anders. - 固opFoto
