THE TREASURE OF TRAPRAIN The low hill of Trapain Law, about 20 miles east of Edinburgh, was in early Christian times a fortified town of considerable importance. In May 1919, while excavating at about a foot below turf-level, the foreman brought up on the end of his pick a silver bowl. Further investigation, revealed the top of a small pit, in which lay the most remarkable collection of silver plate of the late Roman period which has ever come to light in Great britain. We show part of the Treasure as found; it is now in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland, Edinburgh.
