Including a bloom of every known species of orchid, the annual presentation by the Worshipful Company of Gardeners to the Lord Mayor of London of fruit, flowers and vegetables took place at the Mansion House, London. The gifts, made in accordance with the custom 300 years old, is in lieu of tax levied on Cheapside.
