The Federal Court in Philadelphia, became a school on 1 December 1937 when Rebecca King 14-year-old Amish girl from Honeybrook, accompanied by her father Aaron King displayed the extent of her learning to Judge George Welsh, who acted as the teacher, during the hearing in King's test case of the legality of the new state law, which prohibited for children from leaving school before the age of 15. King, who would not pay the fine and was gaoled claims that the law is unconstitutional, as far as the Amish religion is concerned. 1 December 1937
