Romance has blossomed in the convent of Notre Dame, Wavertree, Liverpool, and Kathleen Walker, 24-year-old sempstress, will be married from there next week to William Billington, aged 37, the convent's gardener. The bride-to-be has been in the convents since she was four years of age. The bridegroom to be went to the convent six years ago and was not allowed to talk to the sempstress as a silence order was in force within the walls. Sister Katherine, the Mother Superior of the convent, and the nuns are to prepare and attend the wedding breakfast. Afterwords the couple will live in the convent cottage. 17 September 1937
