Police dragging canal where baby ' s body was found . Police are engaged on systematic dragging operations near the spot where the body of an 18 months old baby boy was recovered from the Grand Union Canal at Uxbridge . Although the body was found on 1 July , no one has yet identified it . The baby was well dressed in a white corduroy jacket on the fleece lining of which of which was stitched in red cotton the initials ' M B ' . One police theory is that the parents may have left the country and placed the baby in someone else ' s charge during their absence . Photo shows , police throwing out a drag hook from the Canal side at Uxbridge . 10 July 1936 *** Local Caption ***
