An experiment which it is hoped will help in solving the difficult problem of parking space in the busy Champs Alysee is being tried by Paris police . Between the Rondpoint and the Rue du Colisee four parallel white lines have been painted in the middle of the broad avenue . The space between these lines is reseved for parking of private cars . taxis are allowed to park alongside the kerbs . The Paris police are watching the experiment closely , as up to now it has proved very difficult to find parking space on the Champs Elysees .
