The steamer Lancresse ( 804 tons ) of Guernsey was sunk in a collision off Deal , in dense fog with the S/S Tres ( 946 tons ) a Norwegian ship which was badly damaged and remained at anchor with her bow and stem buckled and leaking badly . Ten of the eleven members of the crew of the SS Lancresse managed to jump clear and were taken on board a lightship until picked up by the Ramsgate lifeboat .
