First pictures of the Palestine riots . British police face thousands of infuriated Arabs in tel Aviv . Many killed and injured in race war . British police wearing steel helmets were called out to deal with thousands of enraged Arabs who stormed through the streets of Tel Aviv , new Jewish Metropolis in Palestine , when a race war broke out in many of the leading cities of the country . Tel Aviv was one of the chief trouble centres , and there have been many casulties there . Battles between Jews and Arabs throughout the country have so far resulted in 17 Jews being killed and 63 injured , 4 Arabs being killed and 47 injured and 5 police being injured .
