The funeral of Field Marshal Lord Plumer took place with full military honours at Westminster Abbey , London where he was buried in the Warriors Chapel , close to the grave of the Unknown Warrior . He is the first soldier to be buried in the Abbey since the Unknown Warrior . There was a procession from Wellington Barracks where the body rested in the chapel with a guard during the night . Famous soldiers acted as pall bearers . The late Field Marshal ' s charger , which walked in the funeral procession . 20 July 1932
