The huge memorial to the historic French victory at the First Battle of the Marne which is to be dedicated at Meaux next week in the presence of President Lebrun , M Herriot and French and American notables . The monument represents France threatened by undefeated and was designed by Thomas Hastings and completed by Frederick MacMonnies . The monument is the gift of America to France . It will be dedicated on the anniversary of the great battle . 5 September 1932
