Erbaut wurde die Stadt vom Festungsbauer Prestre de Vauban zusammen mit dem Baumeister Jacques Tarade; der sie als Planstadt in Form eines Achtecks mit zentralem Exerzierplatz und einem schachbrettf鰎migen Stra遝nnetz als Idealform einer Festungsstadt anlegte. // General view of the city and fortress Neuf-Brisach in France. The city was built by the military architect Prestre de Vauban together with his architect Jacques Tarade.
