Rice paper butterflies (Idea leuconoe) mating. This species is also known as the paper kite butterfly, large tree nymph or white tree nymph butterfly. The conspicuous colouring indicates to predators that the rice paper butterfly is poisonous. It is therefore mimicked by harmless butterflies. The rice paper butterfly is part of the Nymphalidae family and has an under-developed pair of front legs (not shown). It inhabits the upper canopies of the primary forests and rarely comes to the ground. It is found only in Southeast Asia.
