Harmine. Molecular model of the drug harmine (C13.H12.N2.O), a fluorescent harmala alkaloid that occurs in several different plants. As a drug, it slows the breakdown of neurotransmitters by reversibly inhibiting the enzyme monoamine oxidase A. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white), nitrogen (blue) and oxygen (red).
