New Horizons image of two of the dwarf planet Pluto's smaller moons, Nix (left) and Hydra (right). The colour-enhanced image of Nix shows a reddish area in its lower region, that may be a crater. Two craters are also visible on Hydra, along with a darker upper region that could point to a different surface composition. New Horizons has spent nine and a half years travelling the nearly five billion kilometres to Pluto. Nix image obtained by the Ralph instrument at a distance of 165,000 kilometres. Hydra image obtained by the Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) at a distance of 231,000 kilometres. Both images obtained on 14th July 2015.
