Abell 1060 galaxy cluster, optical image. This cluster, also known as the Hydra cluster, lies around 140 million light years from Earth. It includes the spiral galaxy NGC 3312 (centre), the elliptical galaxy NGC 3311 (the nearer to NGC 3312 of the two round galaxies above and right of it) and NGC 3314 (below and slightly left of NGC 3312). NGC 3314 is actually two galaxies exactly in the same line of sight. Only the foreground galaxy (NGC 3314a) is a member of the cluster. The bright stars at upper left and lower right are foreground objects in the Milky Way.
