Aries is the first of the twelve constellations or signs of the Zodiac, because in ancient times is was where the Sun's path crossed the celestial equator. Since then this point has passed into Pisces due to the Earth's wobble (precession). Aries has been associated with the ram for at least 2000 years. The Greeks associated Aries with the story of the Argonauts & the Golden Fleece. The Chinese called it the Dog, part of a larger figure that included Taurus & Gemini.
