John Frederic Daniell (1790-1845), English chemist and physicist. Daniell is best-known for his invention of the Daniell cell, a type of electric battery that improved on voltaic cells. He also worked on meteorology, inventing several measuring instruments such as a hygrometer, a pyrometer and a barometer. He was made a fellow of the Royal Society in 1813.
