Paul Davies, Australian physicist and science writer. Davies is Professor of Natural Philosophy at the University of Adelaide in Australia. He obtained his PhD from the University of London, UK, and held various academic posts in the UK before emigrating to Australia in 1990. As a writer he has achieved an international reputation for his ability to explain the significance of advanced scientific ideas in simple language. He has written over 20 books, numerous TV and radio programmes and won several awards for his contribution to the public understanding of science. His research interests include black holes, cosmology and quantum gravity.
