Glass objects. Collection of familiar objects made from glass. Glass is a hard brittle transparent substance formed by heating silicates, most usually, silicon dioxide, with an alkali. Most silica for glass making is obtained from fine sand or pulverised sandstone. During heating other substances may be added to impart colour or change its physical properties.
