First the implant's base, or post (partly shown at centre and lower right), is surgically embedded into a hole drilled in the jawbone. The outside of the post is insfluffed upins so that new bone will grow into it to provide a strong base for the false tooth. The attachment (around post) is placed onto this post using a screw (yellow, at top right). Finally the false tooth will be cemented to this attachment. Interference contrast.
