Kliuchevskoi volcano. False-colour radar image of Kliuchevskoi volcano in Kamchatka, Russia. This volcano started to erupt on 30 September 1994. The colours show reflectivity in various radar wavelengths and polarisations. Kliuchevskoi (4750 metres) is the large white (ice) feature at centre surrounded by bare rubble slopes (red). Fresh lava flows are shown as pale green on the slopes to the left. The rest of the land is covered by thin coniferous forests (pale green). The Kamchatka River runs across the bottom of the frame. The data for this image were gathered by the Shuttle Imaging Radar SIR-C during Mission STS-68 of 30 September to 11 October 1994.
