Mushroom (Gymnopilus spectabilis). This is an immature mushroom, as it matures the cap will flatten and turn dark orange. The mushroom is the fruiting body, reproductive structure, of the fungus. G. spectabilis is found growing on dying or decaying wood. Photographed in October in Cornwall, UK.
